I have been testing this service for a while and I must say I have become a huge fan.

Soundcloud is a website where you can host your tracks/mixes for free (up to 5 uploads a month), share them with the world, add friends and receive other people’s tracks on your Dropbox. It’s a very nice community and their player is really nice. They are constantly adding new features, so check their blog also.

So I finally decided to get myself a MIDI keyboard. July was my birthday and all, and since I couldn’t afford the Evo 5 rightaway, I bought the M-Audio Axiom 61 instead (yes, a keyboard instead of a new mixer).

So this has 61 semi-weighted keys, 8 trigger pads, 8 rotary encoders and 9 sliders. And a bunch of buttons, too. Becoming a producer is the inevitable next step for any ambitious DJ and hopefully I will introduce something unique to my sets in the next couple of years. I took some pictures where you can see the keyboard as well as my other MIDI Controller, Novation Nocturn. These were taken with my cellphone so they aren’t brilliant, but it’s more than enough.

And yes, I like blue.

When I said June’s mix would be my last with my current setup, I was wrong! No Evo 5 for me for now, but there are two very good reasons to explain this delay- I will get to that soon.

But I know you’re here to get your music fix, so here it is. A very banging set, building towards a more trancey/melodic feel that culminates with PvD’s new track, “Home“. PvD has been on top of his game for well over 15 years and is an artist any DJ should look up to. I can’t really say what’s my favorite part in this set and I am pretty sure everyone will like it differently, so I will let you be the judge!

Swedish House Mafia will be taking over Mondays at Pacha, Ibiza, starting TONIGHT!

That means Axwell (who I have been lucky enough to see live last year), Sebastian Ingrosso (who came to Portugal this year) and Steve Angello will all be playing regularly in the Island this Summer. These guys are on a roll and you should expect great shows every week. But the Mafia isn’t going alone: special guests include Funkagenda (tonight), Mark Knight, Sharam, Basement Jaxx…

The party theme will be The Dark Forest, which “draws on the iconography of North European fantasy, and harks back to the Romanesque parties that gave Ibiza its first taste of pleasure.”

Yeah, it’s been a while, but I have been very busy with my other projects. This will probably be my last mix using my current setup, as I am finally buying my dream mixer: the Ecler Evo 5. This website will most likely be updated much more often, as I am really looking forward to play around with my new toy! I will definitely some pictures of the mixer when I have it properly installed!

On to the mix: this time, it starts with a prog feel, evolves into a more mainstream housey mood and then changes completely to more obscure, techy stuff. It’s a nice way to close a party IMO! Watch out for David Guetta’s track on this one, it will probably be huge this Summer all over the place…
